Al-Nassr have confirmed the appointment of Ange Postecoglou as their new head coach, handing the Australian a two-year contract to manage a squad led by Cristiano Ronaldo. The announcement ends Postecoglou's nine-month hiatus from management following his sacking by Nottingham Forest in October 2025.
Postecoglou's Return to Management
The 60-year-old has been out of work since a disastrous 40-day stint at Nottingham Forest, where he lost all eight games across all competitions, suffering six defeats and sparking a fan revolt. Prior to that, he managed Tottenham Hotspur, guiding them to a Europa League title in 2025 before being sacked after a 17th-place Premier League finish.
Postecoglou had been working as a pundit for ITV at the 2026 World Cup alongside Roy Keane, Gary Neville, and Ian Wright. He was also linked with the Scotland job after Steve Clarke resigned, and with Kazakhstan, but his wage demands were reportedly too high for the latter.
Al-Nassr's Announcement
“A new chapter. Mr Ange Postecoglou appointed as head coach of the Al-Nassr first team. The contract spans two seasons,” the club said in a statement. “We wish him and his staff every success in their journey.”
Postecoglou replaces Jorge Jesus, who led Al-Nassr to the Saudi Pro League title on the final day of the season in May 2026 before stepping down. Jesus was reportedly earning an annual salary of around £10.5 million, suggesting Postecoglou will command a similarly lucrative package.
Star-Studded Squad
Postecoglou will oversee a squad featuring Cristiano Ronaldo, Sadio Mane, Kingsley Coman, and Joao Felix. He will also face off against fellow former Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers, who left Parkhead for Al-Qadsiah last year.
