Asda has urged shoppers to return a children's toy because it presents a choking hazard. The urgent recall applies to the Hapello Power Train, because it contains "easily-detachable small parts" that could be a danger to young children.
The retailer found that, in some cases, an orange steam dome at the top of the train may easily detach. The Office for Product Safety and Standards issued the recall because this part poses a "choking risk to young children", particularly to infants under 36 months, "who have a natural tendency to explore objects by placing them in their mouths".
Refund and safety advice
If you have purchased the Hapello Power Train, Asda has asked customers to bring it back to their nearest store to get a full refund. They do not need to present a receipt. Customers have also been advised to stop using the product immediately and to keep it out of the reach of young children.
The grocer added: "We are very sorry for any inconvenience caused. If you would like any further information, please contact: Asda Customer Relations – 0330 053 0111."
Product details and regulator
The toy in question was sold at Asda between August 2024 and February 2026, described as a "multicoloured battery power train toy". The barcode is 5063089308547. Further information about this recall can be found on the Asda website.
The Office for Product Safety and Standards, the UK's national product regulator within the Government's Department for Business and Trade, has the power to issue product recalls if it believes a product is not safe. The body was created in January 2018 to regulate the sale of most consumer goods, excluding food, medicines, and vehicles.
