Passport requirements for easyJet, Jet2, Ryanair and TUI holidays
Passport requirements for easyJet, Jet2, Ryanair and TUI

Passengers flying with easyJet, Jet2 or Ryanair this summer must meet airline-specific passport and ID rules that go beyond standard UK travel checks. Each carrier sets its own requirements, including physical document rules, passport validity periods and destination-specific paperwork.

EasyJet: physical ID needed for international flights

EasyJet advises travellers to check "passport, visa and entry requirements for your destination" before flying. Physical ID cards or passports are required for international flights, while digital IDs are accepted only on domestic flights within the country that issued them. "Digital IDs are not accepted for international flights outside the EU," the airline says.

Jet2: UK passports must be under 10 years old

Jet2 warns that most EU countries require UK passports to be less than ten years old and valid for at least three months after the return date. The airline's website adds: "If you are travelling to this destination and you do not hold a full 'British Citizen' or EU passport, it's very likely there will be different entry requirements."

Ryanair: no driver's licences or birth certificates

Ryanair only accepts valid passports or National Identity Cards as travel ID, explicitly excluding driver's licences and birth certificates. The airline has introduced an optional app feature allowing passengers to upload visa documents during check-in to help avoid potential fines or criminal penalties.

Across all three airlines, passports must be in good condition, properly signed and meet validity requirements that can range from three to six months beyond the travel dates. Travellers should check their airline's website and the FCDO guidance before departure to stay compliant.
