Marks & Spencer has launched a new in-house fragrance brand called Studio, an edit of eight unisex eau de parfums priced at £22 each. The line has already gained attention on TikTok, with some users noting similarities to luxury fragrances from Tom Ford, Byredo, and Jo Malone.
Studio line overview
The Studio collection is packaged in glass bottles reminiscent of Byredo and Dior. It includes a discovery set priced at £12. The scents feature refined, modern notes such as vanilla, musk, amber, and tonka, and are designed to be worn solo or layered.
The line follows the success of M&S's Discover range, which costs as little as £12, and the more premium Apothecary line, which rivals Le Labo and regularly sells out.
Testing the fragrances
Shopping Editor Daisy Lester has been wearing the collection since its launch last month and reports that five of the scents have earned her countless compliments. She tested each fragrance by spritzing, layering, and identifying the notes.
Among the standout scents, the darkest vanilla eau de parfum shares flavor profiles with Tom Ford's tobacco vanille, which costs £299 for 100ml. The M&S version is less than £25 and features warm amber, tonka bean, patchouli, orchid, and vanilla bean. Lester describes it as a grown-up scent that lingers all morning.
The vanilla silk eau de parfum is compared to Phlur's vanilla skin parfum, with notes of lemon, orange blossom, and buttery shortbread. The salted haze scent, a summery favorite, is likened to Jo Malone's wood sage and sea salt, with top notes of pear blossom and a warm, creamy base.
Other fragrances in the line include amber creme, which is compared to Dolce & Gabbana's velvet amber, and dewy rose, which draws comparisons to Byredo's young rose. The dewy rose is priced at £22.50, while the others are £22 each.
