Five flights from Manchester Airport are delayed by 30 minutes or more this morning, Tuesday, August 25, with no cancellations reported so far, according to FlightRadar24.com.
The delays come as many families prepare for the final week before schools return in September, with some squeezing in a last-minute holiday. Early autumn is also a popular time for travellers without school-age children, who can take advantage of cheaper deals and cooler temperatures across Europe.
July was second busiest month on record
This summer has been one of the busiest for Manchester Airport. July was officially the second busiest travel month ever recorded, with more than 3.3 million passengers using the hub. Antalya in Turkey and Palma in Majorca have been the most popular destinations as travellers return to reliable holiday spots.
Passengers have been urged to arrive at least two hours before a scheduled flight, and three hours for long-haul, to allow time for check-in and security. Extra bag checks can be a major hold-up, so guidance has been issued on what to pack. Banned items in hand baggage include liquids over 100ml, multi-tools, and large squishy toys, while lithium batteries are banned from hold luggage.
