Manchester Airport is expecting its busiest summer on record, with more than 5.7 million passengers expected to fly in and out between Friday July 17 and the end of the school holidays on September 1. July was the second busiest travel month ever recorded, with over 3.3 million passengers using the hub.
Popular destinations and guidance
Antalya in Turkey and Palma de Mallorca in Spain have been the most popular destinations so far this summer, with Palma expected to be the top destination overall. Passengers are urged to arrive at least two hours before short-haul flights, and three hours for long-haul, to allow time for check-in and security.
Guidance on packing has also been issued, as extra bag checks can cause delays. Items like liquids over 100ml, multi-tools, and large squishy toys in hand baggage can trigger additional checks, while lithium batteries are banned from hold luggage.
