EasyJet Fearless Flyer Course Returns to Newcastle Airport

easyJet is hosting its Fearless Flyer Course at Newcastle International Airport on Sunday, November 15, to help people overcome their fear of flying. The airline’s offer was highlighted by the airport on its social media channels.

Newcastle Airport said: “Nervous about flying? You're not alone. The easyJet Fearless Flyer Course is now available from Your Airport, helping people to overcome their fear of flying and travel with confidence.”

What the Course Includes

The session includes expert guidance from pilots and aviation professionals, practical techniques to help manage anxiety, a better understanding of how aircraft and turbulence work and a confidence-building flight experience. The airport adds: “Take the first step towards stress-free travel.”

The full course costs £239. The price includes access to an online course, a Zoom call where attendees meet the team and an “Experience Flight”. The dedicated Experience Flight will take off from and land back at Newcastle airport and will last a maximum of one hour.

Experience Flight Details

There will be a dedicated crew for the flight, a relaxation session when passengers first board the aircraft and live running commentary from an additional pilot in the cabin. In addition, there will be an in-flight graduation ceremony and access to in-flight photos, available after the course. For all Experience Flights, photographic ID, such as a driving licence or passport, is required.

The cost of a full course with a companion is £359. The companion must be 18 years or older, a regular and confident flyer, and is only entitled to attend the Experience Flight element of the course.

Programme Success and Testimonials

Since launching in 2012, easyJet’s Fearless Flyer programme has helped 15,000 people overcome their fear of flying, with a success rate of over 95%. Mark Wein, course director, said: “We are delighted to be bringing our Fearless Flyer course back to Newcastle, following this year’s opening of the easyJet base at the Airport.”

Wein added: “Having previously helped over 500 people in the North East to become Fearless Flyers, we are really looking forward to growing this number further in the future. As an ex-phobic myself, I know how restrictive a fear of flying can be, but whether the fear roots from not being in control, or not liking the sensation of turbulence, or just a general feeling of anxiety, with the right help it can be totally conquered and we look forward to coming back to Newcastle in November to help anyone joining the course to do just that.”

Laura Prince, who attended the course in 2019, said: “I can’t put into words how much this has changed my life, I have always driven to my holiday destinations, but to now be able to book a flight for me and my family, which will only take a few hours, as opposed to 3 days, is fantastic. I will always be forever grateful. Thank you.”

Leon McQuaid, director of aviation development at Newcastle Airport, said: “It’s fantastic to see easyJet’s Fearless Flyer course return to Newcastle Airport for the first time since 2019, having already helped more than 500 people across the region gain the confidence to travel and discover new destinations. Its return comes at a particularly exciting time, with easyJet now offering flights and package holidays to 31 destinations following the opening of its new base in March.”
