East Kilbride Mountaineering Club is inviting locals to a social evening in the town, offering a chance to learn about the group's upcoming walks and activities.
Social evening details
The event will take place upstairs in The Village Inn, East Kilbride, at 7pm for 7:30pm on Wednesday, September 2. The club, formed in 1969, meets every four weeks on Sundays and runs a bus for most of its high and low-level walks, which cater for all ages and abilities.
Club activities and calendar
Affiliated to Mountaineering Scotland, the South Lanarkshire club has a varied calendar, with destinations including the Lake District, Glen Etive, the Isle of Arran, Kinlochleven and Ben Lawers scheduled for this year.
A club spokesperson said: “We’ve had a great summer, with a few club walks and a holiday to the Dolomites – although our Scottish-based club meets have had less blue skies!
“We run a four-weekly bus and meet on Sundays. Guests are welcome to join twice before committing to membership, and we cater to all abilities - aiming to offer a high and low level walk each month.
“We are a sociable, friendly club who will warmly welcome new members.”
Upcoming walks
The club’s next walks include September 20 at Kinlochleven, October 18 at Ben Lawers, and November 15 at Arrochar.
