A British expat living in Benidorm has described the recent bout of thick mist as 'spooky', with the unusual weather impacting the holiday hotspot on Spain's Costa Blanca. Harry Poulton, who shares travel advice on TikTok under the handle @harrytokky, posted footage showing fog enveloping the resort, obscuring views of rooftops and the sea.
In his video, Poulton commented on the sudden change in conditions: “Oh my goodness, this is extremely spooky. The extreme Benidorm mist has arrived and you can barely see any of the rooftop buildings.” He noted that the temperature had dropped sharply, saying, “It's awfully gone cold in the last few minutes. Some strange things are happening in Benidorm tonight.”
The mist also appeared during daylight hours. Local news outlet Benidorm Now shared footage of Levante Beach “swallowed by thick mist”, adding, “Benidorm’s famous Levante Beach looks completely different today as a thick mist rolls in and covers the skyline! It almost feels mysterious and unreal.”
While the fog has unnerved some residents and tourists, it is not entirely unusual for February. Benidorm at this time of year typically sees daytime temperatures between 12°C and 18°C, dropping to 6–10°C at night. Rain is relatively common, as February is one of the wettest months—though the mist has been an unexpected twist for those hoping for beach weather.
