The UK is bracing for a severe battering from Storm Claudia in the coming days, with forecasters warning of torrential downpours and damaging wind gusts.
Amber and Yellow Warnings Issued
The Met Office has raised the alarm, issuing multiple serious weather warnings across the nation. Two amber rain warnings have been declared for sections of central England and South Wales. These are active from 12pm tomorrow until midnight.
A broader yellow rain warning covers most of southern England and the Midlands. This alert is in force for a much longer period, from 6am tomorrow until 6am on Saturday.
Furthermore, two yellow wind warnings will be in place for parts of North West England and North West Wales, also running from 12pm tomorrow until midnight.

The storm, which was named by the Spanish meteorological service where its impact will be most significant, is set to bring a prolonged period of heavy rain to the UK. Concerns are mounting over the potential for up to six inches of rain to fall in just 12 hours.
Accompanying the deluge will be powerful easterly winds, with fears that gusts could reach speeds of 70mph. This combination significantly increases the risk of widespread flooding and travel disruption.
