Love Island's Liberty Poole's Car Crashes Into Neighbour's Garden in Storm Goretti
Liberty Poole's Parked Car Crashes in Storm Goretti

Reality TV personality Liberty Poole has revealed her parked car slid off her driveway and crashed into a neighbour's garden during the severe weather brought by Storm Goretti.

A Slippery Return From Holiday

The Love Island star had only just returned to the UK after a six-week trip, which included visits to Mexico and Dubai. She admitted she was unaware of the severity of the storm conditions when the incident occurred in the early hours of the morning.

Speaking in a now-viral TikTok video, a breathless Liberty explained the chain of events. "I can't make my life up. So this is my first day back, right? My first day back in the UK – no one told me about Storm Goretti," she said.

A Warning Ignored

The ordeal began when a friend phoned to warn her about the dangerous conditions, advising her to move her car from her sloped driveway to the bottom of the road for safety. Poole attempted to reverse her Fiat 500 off the drive but lost control on the icy surface.

"I start to reverse off my drive, I lose control, I'm just gonna leave it halfway up my drive, but I'm gonna put the handbrake on because I don't trust where this car is going," she recounted.

The Moment of Impact

Thinking the vehicle was secure, the star went inside to cook her dinner. Moments later, she heard a loud bang. "I'm minding my own business, cooking my dinner – bang, bang – what the hell? I looked outside, my car's slid all the way down into the neighbour's garden," she gasped.

She later shared photographic evidence on social media, showing her car positioned diagonally across the road, nestled in a neighbour's bush. Tyre tracks through the snow clearly showed the path it had taken from her property to the other side of the street.

"It's literally diagonal, in the road, in my neighbour's bush – are you kidding?!" she exclaimed. "My car slid down into the neighbour's garden. I've just had to leave it on the road."

Steep Driveway to Blame

In a subsequent interview with Sky News, Liberty gave more context about her driveway's gradient. "Now my drive is really steep, it's like – kids could probably go sledging down my drive it's that steep," she laughed.

She reiterated the sequence, explaining how the simple act of making dinner was interrupted by the crash. "Anyway, I'm cooking dinner in the microwave and I hear a bang... I look outside my window and I'm like, 'Hang on, my car's not on my drive, where's my car gone?' Anyway, my car's ended up in the neighbour's garden. In the bush, across the road."

Safety Advice After the Mishap

Reflecting on the frightening experience, Liberty offered some practical advice to other drivers facing similar conditions on inclined drives. "I guess my advice would be if you do have a car on a steep drive, make sure you leave it in first gear," she suggested.

In a lighter note, she also mentioned that she had managed to get a food delivery just before the weather worsened, for which she gave the driver "a massive tip," adding philosophically, "there's no stopping it."

The incident, which took place around 3am, serves as a stark reminder of the disruptive power of the winter storms hitting the UK. Liberty Poole took the mishap in good humour, sharing the saga with her millions of followers online.
