Met Office: 19C warm spell continues across North West this week

The Met Office has issued its latest forecast for the North West, as warm conditions are expected to continue this week. Autumn is well underway and October is progressing, but temperatures remain between 17C and 19C over the coming days.

Forecasters say there will be "plenty of sunshine" combined with rainy days and an autumn breeze, typical for this time of year. Temperatures will remain close to or above average throughout the week.

Tuesday and Wednesday outlook

In its verdict for Liverpool on Tuesday, October 13, the Met Office said: "A wet start, with this band of rain, sometimes heavy, quickly clearing, allowing for sunny spells. Still feeling very mild, with strong winds and the odd rumble of thunder possible later this afternoon Maximum temperature 17 °C."

It added: "Showers easing into the evening, with clear spells around. Feeling mild with winds easing to start, before strengthening again from the west into Wednesday morning. Minimum temperature 9 °C."

Looking ahead to Wednesday, October 14, the forecaster said: "Plenty of sunshine around to start on Wednesday. Still feeling mild, with cloud building through the morning. Very windy with gales along exposed coasts and on hills. Maximum temperature 17 °C."

Rest of the week and October verdict

In its outlook for the rest of the week, the Met Office said: "Rain pushes southeastwards Thursday into Friday. Winds ease dramatically behind, with temperatures returning closer to average. Cooler with showers on Friday. Turning sunnier, and more settled into the weekend."

It has been a rather mild start to autumn, with temperatures remaining close to 20C. The autumn months are known for being unsettled on the weather front, with a combination of strong winds, sunny interludes and drizzly spells.

In its general verdict for the remainder of October, the Met Office said fine and dry weather will remain prominent across the UK. Some wet weather could occur at times, along with light winds.

The forecaster said: "Weak frontal systems could bring some rain at times and if this happens it is most likely in the far south or perhaps far north of the UK. Winds are expected to be mostly light. Temperatures will likely be around normal for the time of year, with frosty mornings in the usual prone areas."
