The Met Office has released a list of 30 areas across Scotland and northern England that will be hit by heavy rain on Friday, July 3, 2026. While southern regions are expected to remain mostly dry, northwestern parts of the UK will see persistent showers and breezy conditions.

According to the Met Office, Friday's weather will be influenced by a front moving in from the west, bringing cloud and patchy drizzle to the northwest, which will develop into more persistent rain later in the day. The rest of the UK is expected to enjoy fine weather with lighter winds and very warm sunshine.
Met Office maps indicate that the heaviest rainfall will affect southern Scotland, northwest England, and northeast England. Most areas will experience light rain of up to 0.5mm per hour, but Dumfries and Galloway in Scotland could see as much as 8mm per hour. In England, Cumbria is forecast to have localised downpours reaching 4mm per hour, while East Riding of Yorkshire and Lancashire may see up to 2mm per hour.
