The Foreign Office has confirmed it is liaising with Spanish authorities following reports that four British nationals may have perished in a wildfire in Los Gallardos, Almería, in the Andalucía region of Spain. Four bodies were discovered in a burnt-out vehicle with a right-hand drive steering wheel, indicating British origin, according to Antonio Sanz, Andalusia's health and emergencies minister.

Downing Street confirmed the Government was seeking further information after the 'concerning' reports. A No 10 spokeswoman stated: 'I'm aware of those reports and the Foreign Office are in touch with the relevant authorities in Spain.'
FCDO Update and Advice
In a fresh update released on Friday, the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) added: 'Local authorities have reported a wildfire in Los Gallardos, Almería, in Andalucía.' The FCDO advised those in areas affected by the blaze to take four steps: follow instructions from local authorities and emergency services at all times; avoid travelling into or through the affected area; monitor updates from the emergency services; and dial 112 in an emergency.

Local officials said the fire has affected more than 3,000 hectares. Firefighters are battling the blaze near Los Gallardos, Almería, Spain.
