FIA probes Verstappen, Hamilton after Bahrain GP

The FIA has announced a probe into Max Verstappen after the Bahrain Grand Prix, where the Dutch driver secured his first win of the 2026 season. Lewis Hamilton, who finished third, also had his car inspected following the race.

Verstappen wins rain-affected race

The Bahrain Grand Prix, held in Malaysia, was twice delayed due to heavy rain, pushing the start time back by 93 minutes. The 55-lap race was also disrupted by two Safety Car periods, but Verstappen emerged victorious.

Drivers' Championship leader Kimi Antonelli finished second, while Hamilton came from 18th on the grid to secure a podium finish in third. George Russell, who was running third, was forced to retire during the second Safety Car period due to a suspected power unit failure.

Championship standings

Charles Leclerc, Isaac Hadjar, and Oscar Piastri completed the top six. Antonelli now leads the drivers' standings by 84 points with seven races remaining, putting the Italian on course for a first world championship title.
