A British Airways flight was diverted to Manchester Airport after a passenger fell ill on board. The passenger, who may have suffered a seizure, was taken to hospital after the plane landed.
Incident details
The flight, BA1301, was travelling from Aberdeen to London Heathrow. Flight tracking websites indicated that the aircraft transmitted a code signalling a general emergency after the passenger became unwell.
The Airbus A320 departed Aberdeen at 10:35am and was diverted towards Manchester while flying over Lancaster, according to the Manchester Evening News.
Landing and response
The plane landed safely at Manchester at lunchtime and has since been cancelled. No further details on the passenger's condition are available.
A British Airways spokesperson said: "We're sorry for the disruption to our customers' journeys. Our flight diverted to Manchester due to a customer requiring medical attention on board. Our teams are working hard to rebook passengers onto the next available flight to Heathrow."
Alternative flights are expected to take the remaining passengers to London Heathrow later on Wednesday.
