Gamers in Australia received a message on their Xbox consoles stating that, beginning late August 2026, adult Xbox accounts must verify their age to access apps and games rated 18+ on the Microsoft and Xbox Store. The message warns that access to such content may be restricted unless verification is completed, but assures that apps and games already owned will not be affected.
To complete the verification process, gamers are required to submit personal data, including driver's licences or active credit card details. Some companies are also facilitating facial scans to ensure compliance with the new regulations.
