The UK's social media ban for under-16s will come into effect by March 2027. However, there is no date yet for planned restrictions for 16- and 17-year-olds on websites that allow infinite scrolling and algorithmic content, contrary to a previous suggestion that these would begin at the same time.
Correction issued
The clarification was issued in response to an article suggesting the restrictions for older teenagers would start simultaneously with the under-16 ban. The correction notes that no such date has been set.
