Trump Aide Stephen Miller's 'Change the Voters' Post Sparks Fury Ahead of Midterms

Stephen Miller, a senior adviser to President Donald Trump, has sparked outrage by posting on X that Republicans must “change the voters, change the country” ahead of the November midterm elections. The comment, widely seen as an admission of intent to suppress turnout among Democratic-leaning groups, came as Trump engaged in a heated confrontation with Republican senators over voting legislation.

During a closed-door lunch on Capitol Hill, Trump berated Senate Republicans for refusing to pass the “Save America Act”, which would require voter ID and proof of citizenship. The President accused lawmakers of betrayal after they backed a bill limiting his ability to wage war on Iran. Senator John Kennedy described Trump as “mad as a murder hornet”, while Senator Bill Cassidy recounted a face-to-face row in which he criticised the administration’s handling of the Iran conflict.

Trump’s fury extended to a cancelled signing ceremony for housing legislation, which he said would not be enacted until the voting bill passed. By the end of the day, two Republicans reversed their earlier votes on Iran, handing Trump a victory. Cassidy, who had earlier insisted he would not be bullied, was among those who switched.

Democrats argue the Save America Act is a deliberate attempt to disenfranchise minority voters. Miller’s social media post has reinforced those fears, with critics accusing the administration of seeking to rig the electoral system. Republicans have already been redrawing congressional maps following a Supreme Court ruling that weakened the Voting Rights Act, further fuelling concerns over voter suppression.
