TalkTalk is transferring approximately 120,000 broadband and home phone customers to Rise Fibre, a provider launched in June 2025. The move will more than double Rise Fibre’s customer base to 250,000, while TalkTalk will retain around 1.5 million customers.
What changes for affected customers
Affected customers should have been contacted earlier this month. Their broadband speed and monthly price will remain the same, and home phone users can keep their existing number. During the switchover, there should be no service disruption, and no need to change broadband equipment.
However, those still in contract with TalkTalk who wish to switch to another provider may face an early exit fee. If a prolonged outage occurs, customers should log a complaint and may be entitled to compensation. Most households being transferred are connected through the CityFibre network.
Official statements
TalkTalk’s website states: "Over the coming months, TalkTalk and Rise Fibre will work together to complete the account transition. Rise Fibre will keep you informed before any changes are made to how you receive your bills or manage your account."
Steve Wilson, CEO of Rise Fibre, said: "This is far more than an acquisition. It marks another major step in the emergence of a genuine new challenger in UK broadband. Customers have been telling the industry for years that they want something different — better service, simpler products and a provider that’s genuinely easy to deal with. That’s exactly why we created Rise Fibre."
How to save on broadband
If you're out of contract, you may be paying too much. Check your actual usage of minutes, texts, and broadband speed, as many people pay for higher allowances than needed. Use comparison websites to find cheaper deals, then either switch or negotiate with your current provider.
When haggling, mention better prices elsewhere and ask if they can beat them. Being polite helps. If they can't lower the price, consider switching and check cashback websites for incentives on new deals.
