Smeg's First Standalone Air Fryer Is Here and It's Almost Too Pretty

Smeg has launched its first standalone air fryer, the AFC01 Dual Flavour, now available for £199.95. The Italian brand, known for turning kitchen appliances into art, has applied its signature pastel and glossy colourways to the nation's favourite countertop gadget.

The air fryer comes in black, white, emerald green, and storm blue, and is designed to fit into Smeg's existing Collezione range, so it will sit neatly alongside the brand's toasters and blenders.

Features and Capacity

The retro-styled device has a 7.3-litre capacity, which can fit a whole chicken, and includes seven preset programmes plus a manual mode. It offers two cooking modes: Crispy, ideal for chips, vegetables, and battered food, and Juicy+Crispy, which keeps food moist inside while ensuring a crispy, evenly browned exterior.

A see-through window with an integrated light lets you monitor cooking without opening the drawer and letting hot air escape. When food is ready, the flip-top basket opens, and the non-stick coating, along with a dishwasher-safe basket and rack, makes cleanup easy. Silicone handles help prevent burns.

Practicality and Appeal

The air fryer is positioned as a healthier, quicker way to cook meals, especially for those with limited oven space, and requires no preheating. Smeg's latest launch combines aesthetic appeal with the practicality of a countertop device, offering a tool that looks as good as it performs.
