Scottish Water is set to deliver £8.6 million of wastewater network improvements across six locations in Airdrie, Coatbridge, Bargeddie and Uddingston.
Investment to reduce flood risk
The investment will see approximately 650 metres of new sewer storage pipework installed to increase capacity within the existing network, helping to reduce the risk of sewer flooding in local communities while supporting the long-term resilience of wastewater services across the area.
Support for new hospital
The project is also a key part of the enabling infrastructure required to support the future development of the new University Hospital Monklands site in Wester Moffat, Airdrie.
Work begins
Work on the first element - within private land - began this week, with dates for the remaining five elements to be confirmed as the programme progresses.
Works are expected to take place at a number of off-road locations, with full details of each location available via the project webpage at www.scottishwater.co.uk/monklands.
