Frosinone coach Massimiliano Alvini has left the door open for Fares Ghedjemis to leave this summer amid renewed interest from Rangers. The Light Blues reportedly saw an £8million-plus bid for the forward turned down, days after Celtic's offer was also rejected.
Both Glasgow clubs appeared to move on, with Celtic signing Haissem Hassan from Real Oviedo and Rangers targeting PSV wide man Couhaib Driouech. However, an injury saw a £7million move for the 24-year-old fall apart, despite the Moroccan attending Thursday's Europa League exit at Ibrox against Jagiellonia Bialystok.
Alvini: Players will leave
Frosinone president Maurizio Stirpe insists the club do not have to sell Ghedjemis, but Alvini admits departures are on the cards. Ahead of the Coppa Italia clash with Juve Stabia, he said: "Transfer market dynamics aren't an issue. Players will leave. Players will arrive, and I will coach them. The ones I’ve had so far have worked well."
"There is a lot of movement as the season approaches, but the path ahead is very clear. The team has legs, spirit, and aggression—in line with our philosophy."
Striker search continues
Rangers are also eyeing a striker to replace the injured Youssef Chermiti, with Portland Timbers frontman Kevin Kelsy an option. Reports suggest the Ibrox side have put forward a $10m (£7.5m) offer, with talks ongoing.
Portland Timbers boss Marti Cifuentes, speaking ahead of facing Chicago Fire, expects movement in the market: "You expect players to leave, but I am working with Ned [Grabavoy, general manager] and Jack [Dodd, technical director] to find the best possible way to reinforce this team."
Sheffield United rule out One exit
Reports have also suggested contact has been made with Sheffield United over Ryan One, but boss Chris Wilder has ruled out a move: "He had a fabulous loan move to Lincoln, had a taste of success."
"They're in our division now and he played a part in a brilliant season for Lincoln City, winning the League One title. He's had a good pre-season, came on the pitch on Sunday for 20-25 minutes and showed glimpses of what he can achieve."
"I'm really excited about what we can achieve, excited to get back to Bramall Lane and the atmosphere, how it will be with supporters missing the football. I want to coach, I want to manage. There's a process to strengthen our squad. Every manager in the division will say they don't enjoy this period because of the uncertainty."
"I don't envisage us losing anybody (in his plans), I don't want to lose anybody, I want to build. I want to build a good team."
