Manchester United have learned that Bournemouth reportedly expect a minimum of £100million to consider selling Alex Scott in future transfer windows. The 23-year-old midfielder was among several players linked with a move to Old Trafford during the summer, when United ultimately rebuilt their midfield by signing Andrey Santos, Youri Tielemans and Carlos Baleba.
Scott's Bournemouth future uncertain
Scott has become a star player for the Cherries, helping lead the side to the European places last season. Despite Bournemouth's determination to keep him, his future remains uncertain in upcoming windows after he turned down the offer of a new contract.
According to The Athletic, Scott is expected to command a minimum of £100m if he were to leave next summer, with Bournemouth believing he could fetch a larger fee even with one less year on his contract. Chelsea submitted a £64m bid for Scott, which was rejected. He is currently under contract until 2028 and will enter the last year of his deal next summer.
Martinez backs Yoro as future of defence
Meanwhile, United defender Lisandro Martinez has backed Leny Yoro to be the future of the club's backline after the 20-year-old impressed in the Champions League. Yoro arrived from Lille in 2024 and has faced competition for a regular starting spot, but Martinez has instructed the club to eventually build their defence around him.
“Amazing performance from Leny Yoro,” Martinez said after the win over Sabah in midweek. “He played so well defensively, with the ball, being calm, being composed in every situation, one-vs-one. He's the future of this club, honestly. And we have to help him, you know.”
