A cleaning writer has compared Dr Beckmann Cleaning Sheets for floor and multi-surface with Flash's All-Purpose Cleaner on her floors, and found a clear winner based on scent. Both products cleaned effectively, but the Flash cleaner's stronger lemon fragrance gave it the edge.
Comparing the two products
Mia O'Hare, Senior Audience Writer for Spare Time, tested the products on the same floor. The Dr Beckmann sheets cost 69p on offer at Heron, though they are priced at £3.49 at Dr Beckmann's store. The instructions said to drop a sheet in a bucket of up to five litres of warm water, which dissolved completely and produced plenty of suds.
In contrast, the Flash cleaner, which claims to be the "number one UK floor cleaner," cost £2.25 from Heron and came in liquid form. It had a strong smell upon opening the bottle, which persisted once diluted with water. Both products have a lemon scent, but the Flash one was much stronger.
Performance and results
The Dr Beckmann sheets cleaned the floor well, removing marks and stains, and dried effectively. However, the writer noted the absence of any smell was odd, as she likes a fresh scent when cleaning. She detected a rather odd, damp scent of water instead of the lemon fragrance.
The Flash cleaner also performed well, removing stains and marks and leaving a nice shine, though it produced less suds. The writer found it easy to use and appreciated its stronger scent.
The verdict
Despite the Dr Beckmann sheets being reasonably priced on offer and using less plastic, the writer found them slightly disappointing due to the lack of smell. She did appreciate that the sheets use less plastic and fit better in her cleaning cupboard. However, the scent difference made Flash her winner, as both products cleaned the floor well but the stronger scent was a deciding factor.
