Jamie Carragher believes Tottenham Hotspur are so short in attacking areas that Roberto De Zerbi will be forced into further transfer activity. Spurs have spent heavily this summer, bringing in Savio and Omar Marmoush from Manchester City to bolster their forward line, but failed to score in the first half of their opening home Premier League game against Newcastle United.

Savio was absent from the squad due to muscle fatigue, days after scoring and assisting in the Carabao Cup victory over Charlton Athletic. Marmoush started after arriving on a temporary deal. Carragher felt Spurs' lack of attacking threat would prompt additional signings before September 1.
"They have been let down in the final third, I think it is probably the evidence that De Zerbi will still be in the market after this game, in the next few days, for attacking reinforcements," Carragher said. "They have certainly been left a little bit short in this first half by the ability of the wide players to beat the man or do something clever or creative."
De Zerbi eyes more additions
New signings Sandro Tonali and Matheus Fernandes started alongside Marmoush. The clearest chance of the half fell to Pedro Porro, whose strike from 12 yards went over the bar. Spurs dominated possession but failed to test Lukas Hornicek in the Newcastle goal.
With the transfer deadline approaching, De Zerbi is looking at further additions following a £300million spending spree. "I didn't expect a market like we have done," he said before the Newcastle match. "I think we can do one player more and in one specific position."
Kevin Danso, Pape Matar Sarr and Richarlison were notably absent from the squad, with all three reportedly expressing a desire to leave the club this summer.
