Content creator Kerry Whelpdale has shared a cleaning tip that uses baking paper to stop limescale stains from forming on shower screens. She says wiping the paper on glass makes water run off without leaving marks.
How the baking paper hack works
Shower screens protect bathrooms from water damage, but hard water and grime can build up, causing limescale stains and streaks. Kerry Whelpdale tested the method and shared the results on Instagram, writing: "A hack that just keeps on giving shower after shower."
She added: "If you thoroughly wipe baking paper on your glass shower screen, water will simply run off your glass, leaving no water marks."
Why baking paper prevents water marks
Kerry explained that the wax coating on the paper does the work. Baking paper is coated with paraffin wax, which repels water and stops mineral deposits from building up on surfaces.
The waxy silicone coating creates an invisible protective barrier against water spots and fingerprints, making it effective at removing watermarks.
Steps to clean shower screens with baking paper
To use the method, scrunch up a sheet of the silicone-coated paper, "making sure to use the shiny side", and buff it across the affected area. Before that, remove any soap scum with a bathroom cleaner, as the baking paper will not work if soap scum is present.
Keep working across the shower screen surface until it looks completely clean.
