ASOS customers have received a threatening push notification this morning, apparently from hackers claiming to have compromised the online retailer's systems.
The notification appeared just before 10am, warning of a potential 'leak' if the company does not engage with those responsible. The message reads: "Dear Asos DPO and IT, we have fully compromised the Snowflake instance. Engage with us, or we will leak it." A link is shown at the end of the notification.
App and website affected
According to Downdetector, the ASOS website and app seemingly functioned properly until around 9.40am. Most customer complaints relate to the app, with 94% of reports concerning the application and just 4% about the website.
Panicked shoppers have taken to social media this morning to share their concern after receiving the notification.
Response awaited
ASOS has been approached for comment. This is a breaking news story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
