Shoppers were thrown into a panic after receiving a threatening app message claiming the online fashion retailer ASOS had been hacked.
Threatening notification sent to customers
The message, which appeared to reach customers beyond the UK based on social media posts, said ASOS had been "fully compromised." The notification, titled 'ASOS HACKED', read: "Dear Asos DPO and IT, we have fully compromised the Snowflake instance. Engage with us, or we will leak it."
Customers wary of clicking link
The app alert ended with a link that many on social media said they dared not click or visit. ASOS had not publicly commented on the notification at the time of writing, though its website appeared to be still up.
ASOS has been contacted for comment.
