Aston Villa's Villa Park is undergoing dramatic changes, with the stadium looking unrecognisable during the Champions League clash with Fenerbahce. The ongoing redevelopment has seen the North Stand shut down, reducing capacity to roughly 37,000 for the 2026/27 season.
Capacity and North Stand work
The overhaul aims to push total capacity past 50,000 by the 2027/28 season, ensuring the venue is fully prepped to host fixtures for Euro 2028. Major groundwork is well underway, as evidenced by the complete removal of the initial roof structure to facilitate extensive internal foundation engineering ahead of the new framework installation.
Trinity Road and hospitality upgrades
The summer break saw nearly all seats inside the Trinity Road Stand swapped out to optimise the spectator configuration. Additional updates include an upgraded press area and plans for a brand-new player tunnel positioned near the convergence of the Trinity Road and North stands.
Enhancing corporate offerings, the club introduced 'The Cross by Tom Sellers' hospitality suite. Located between the Trinity Road Stand and the Holte End, it features a fine-dining menu crafted by the acclaimed two-Michelin-starred chef.
Ticket rules and Fenerbahce fixture
Villa continues to meet the Premier League's 3,000-seat minimum requirement for away fans, as capacity remains above 30,000 without the North Stand. However, European tournament regulations mandate a five per cent allocation for visiting supporters, translating to roughly 1,800 seats under the current reduced layout.
Villa Park takes centre stage tonight as Unai Emery's squad hosts Turkish powerhouse Fenerbahce in the Champions League, with kick-off set for 8pm.
