The Red Arrows have returned to the UK after a brief hiatus and are set to perform at several airshows over the bank holiday weekend, including Clacton, Sidmouth and Southport.
The team was originally scheduled to appear at the Eastbourne International Airshow earlier this month but had to cancel after completing a tour of the US and getting stranded in Canada. They have since returned to the UK for several shows and flown to Sweden for a two-day display in Linköping.
Clacton Airshow
Today, the pilots will finish their second show at the Clacton Airshow in Essex. The RAF jet pilots are reportedly set to leave RAF Waddington just after midday, landing an hour later at RAF Mildenhall, where they will later begin their display. The team will depart for Essex around 4.50pm, passing over Thetford and starting their show over Clacton at 5pm. They will sweep along the coast, head south of Clacton for 5.23pm, then travel towards Colchester and return to RAF Mildenhall for 5.30pm.
The Clacton Airshow will also feature a memorial flight display for the Battle of Britain, marking the 90th anniversary of the Spitfire’s last flight.
Sidmouth Regatta and Airshow
The Red Arrows are also scheduled to appear at the Sidmouth Regatta and Airshow in Devon, where they will close the show. The stunt team will be in the skies above the coast between 6.30pm and 7.10pm. Although this year’s official flight path hasn’t been confirmed, if it’s similar to last year’s, the pilots will likely fly over Exeter, South Molton, and then towards the coast of Sidmouth before returning to Exeter.
The Sidmouth Regatta and Airshow includes displays from other aircraft groups, including the Stampe Display Team, Rich Goodwin’s Jet Pitts Muscle Plane, the Aerosuperbatics Wing Walkers Duo, and the Navy Wings.
Southport Airshow
The Red Arrows will bring their weekend display to a close at the Southport Airshow, where the pilots are scheduled to perform tomorrow and on Sunday. The flight path hasn’t been unveiled, but the team is scheduled to begin their display at 3.30pm on both days.
The Red Arrows will be followed by the Battle of Britain Memorial flight on Saturday at 4pm, and by a display from a Eurofighter Typhoon on Sunday, also at 4pm.
Upcoming appearances
After Sunday’s Southport Airshow display, the Red Arrows will take a brief hiatus before making appearances in Scotland and embarking on another tour. The pilots will stop at Guernsey, Cambridge, Belgium, Czechia, and France before making one final stop in Cambridge for the IWM Duxford Flying Finale.
After that, the Red Arrows aren’t scheduled to return until 2027, but there are still plenty of events to catch them in the meantime.
