Betws-y-Coed is preparing for an influx of visitors as Zip World's Halloween-themed Ffear Fforest showcase returns. The event runs from October 8 to November 1, transforming the village's woodland into a scene of adrenaline-pumping scares.
What to expect at Ffear Fforest
Ffear Fforest returns to its Betws-y-Coed site from October 9 to November 1, promising an adrenaline-fuelled experience. Guests can navigate through a maze of nets or descend into darkness on the Cursed Coaster, guided only by the eerie glow of a headlamp.
For those who really want to test their fears, the evening can be elevated with a staggering 100ft drop through a set of trapdoors.
Tickets and upgrades
Standard Night Passes start from £24 per person, and include two rides, unlimited access to The Nets and participation in The Surge. The Cursed Coaster races through 1km of pitch-black forest at up to 25mph, while The Nets lets guests hide from clowns in darkened nooks suspended high among the trees.
Those brave enough can take the fright further with a series of after-dark adventure upgrades: Nightfall from £18 offers a 100ft plummet through trapdoors; Screamride from £19.80 rises 24m into the air before a high-speed swing release; and Tree Horrors from £14.40 is a treetop high ropes course in darkness and mist.
Other attractions and accommodation
Also at Zip World Betws-y-Coed, the Fforest Coaster is the UK's only alpine coaster, and Zip Safari is a three-hour challenge at heights of up to 60ft above the forest floor. Tickets can be purchased online.
Zip World's locations include spectacular sites such as disused quarries, former slate mines, lush forests and major lakes, with four locations in North Wales. Accommodation is available in on-site forest lodges and camping pods, as well as the traditional Welsh Inn, Tyn-y-Coed. All Zip World sites are dog-friendly, with dogs kept on a lead and supervised at all times.
