Margam Park outdoor cinema returns with Halloween films

Adventure Cinema is returning to Margam Park in south Wales this autumn with a line-up of films for families and adults who enjoy watching movies under the stars. The outdoor cinema event features Halloween-themed screenings against the backdrop of the historic Tudor Gothic mansion.

Attendees can expect several family-friendly Halloween movies, plus a scary 90s slasher film for adults. These events are taking place at Margam Park and other locations across Wales and the UK.

Adventure Cinema is the UK's biggest touring outdoor cinema, showing blockbusters, musicals and family classics at more than 50 scenic spots, including National Trust houses, castles, and country estates. Each event includes pre-show music, food stalls, and a bar.

Tickets for these family-friendly outdoor movies usually cost between £15.50 and £17.50 if bought in advance. Events go ahead even if it rains, so attendees are advised to bring everything they might need for wet weather.

What to bring and what's showing

Guests can bring a low-backed chair, blanket, or picnic setup to relax on the lawn while watching the film. Deck chairs are available to hire, and snacks and drinks are available on site.

This October at Margam Park, family favourites include the 90s hit Hocus Pocus, Room on the Broom and The Gruffalo (a double bill), and The Nightmare Before Christmas. For adults, there is also the American slasher classic Scream.

Margam Park is considered an excellent choice for a Halloween movie line-up given its haunted surroundings. Stories about Margam Castle include the ghost of a murdered gamekeeper and the sounds of Victorian children’s laughter, making it known as one of the most haunted places in Britain.

During overnight ghost vigils, people often report cold spots, strange lights, and sudden temperature drops. Sometimes objects move on their own, and unexplained noises can startle even experienced ghost hunters.

The spirit of Robert Scott is said to be the most active, with psychic investigators calling his presence hostile and overwhelming. During séances, rocks have reportedly been thrown, and many people feel watched in certain parts of the castle. Margam also hosts special paranormal events for those interested in ghost hunting.
