Newcastle's Michelin-starred restaurant House of Tides will take over the kitchen at Solaya, Kenny Atkinson's London restaurant, for a one-night-only dining event on October 7.
A Geordie takeover in Shoreditch
The quayside restaurant, which has held a Michelin star every year since 2015, will team up with Solaya Hoxton for the special event. Kenny and the House of Tides team will create a five-course tasting menu for what a spokesman described as an 'unforgettable evening'.
Kenny Atkinson opened Solaya on the 25th floor of the art'otel London Hoxton in Shoreditch last year. The chef-patron, who also runs the Michelin star-winning House of Tides and Solstice in Newcastle, described the Mediterranean-inspired eatery with 360-degree views as "more of a relaxed restaurant".
A taste of the North East
He said: "This special takeover offers an exclusive opportunity to experience one of the UK’s most acclaimed restaurants in London, as the team brings the warmth, creativity and hospitality of House of Tides to Solaya."
The menu will showcase the restaurant's signature style through "exceptional seasonal ingredients, refined cooking and thoughtful flavour combinations". Highlights include a steamed Lindisfarne oyster with bonito butter sauce, caviar and walnut; pan-roasted sea bass with cauliflower and ajo blanco, pickled grapes and sea herbs; and slow-roasted saddle of Highland venison with smoked beetroot, salsify and blackberry. Dessert will be dark chocolate and hazelnut mousse, with a vegetarian menu also available.

The event takes place in the hotel, whose interior design is by artist D*Face and whose paintings on show include two original Banksys. The five-course tasting menu costs £95, with an optional wine pairing, and tickets are available to book online.
