East Kilbride winger Timam Scott quits weeks after signing

East Kilbride winger Timam Scott has left the club less than a month after signing, with manager Mick Kennedy confirming the mutual decision to part ways. The 20-year-old, who joined from Queen's Park at the start of June, was initially hailed as a major signing but has now departed after failing to secure a regular place in Kennedy's plans.

Scott's swift exit

Scott was a trialist for Clyde on Saturday, featuring in a 2-1 defeat to Dunfermline, and could now find a new home across South Lanarkshire. Speaking to Lanarkshire Live Sport, Kennedy explained: "After he was in after a couple of weeks, I think we just felt it wasn't the right environment for the boy. He wasn't going to play as consistently as he had hoped for. We didn't want to stand in his way and we made the decision jointly that it was best he moves on."

Contrast with earlier praise

Kennedy's latest comments contrast sharply with his earlier statements when Scott was unveiled. At the time, Kennedy told Lanarkshire Live Sport: "We have had our eye on Timam for the last six months... Anyone who is aware of his ability will know he is an exceptionally gifted winger; he’s really quick across the ground, technically outstanding and plays with a lot of freedom." Kennedy had predicted that Scott would earn a move to full-time football quickly, stating: "If he has the kind of season I expect him to have, I will be amazed if he is still here next season."

Previous quick departures

Scott's exit is not the first time East Kilbride have quickly cut ties with new signings. Last season, Josh O'Connor and Mouhamed Niang left under similar circumstances after just three weeks at K-Park, with Kennedy citing their desire for guaranteed game time as the reason for their departures.
