The Community Shield between Arsenal and Manchester City will be decided by a penalty shootout if the scores are level after 90 minutes, with no extra time played.
No Extra Time in Community Shield
Unlike most cup games, which require 30 minutes of extra time if the sides are drawing, the Community Shield will skip additional time. If the match is level after 90 minutes, the game will go straight to penalties.
Each side will select five takers, and if all ten spot kicks are scored, the shootout will proceed to sudden death.
Substitution Rules and Venue
The Community Shield differs from a normal Premier League game in that it is played at a neutral venue rather than at a club's home ground. Managers are allowed to make up to six substitutions instead of the usual five.
