The 2026/27 UEFA Champions League league phase draw takes place today, with 36 teams set to learn the eight opponents they will face in the opening stage of the competition. The ceremony is being staged at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco and starts at 5pm BST.
Five Premier League clubs involved
Five Premier League clubs are involved in this year's draw: Arsenal, Manchester City, Liverpool, Aston Villa and Manchester United. All five will be hoping for a favourable set of fixtures as they begin their campaigns to lift European football's biggest club trophy.
The Champions League continues with its league-phase format, meaning there are no traditional groups of four. Instead, each of the 36 clubs will play eight matches against eight different opponents, with four games at home and four away. The teams are split into four pots of nine, with each club facing two opponents from every pot.

The league phase itself begins on Tuesday, September 8, with the full fixture list and kick-off times due to be confirmed by UEFA no later than Saturday 29 August.
