Cardiff City have announced their 25-man squad for the pre-season training camp in Cork, Ireland, which includes a friendly against Cork City on Tuesday. Manager Brian Barry-Murphy will be looking for improvement after a 6-0 defeat to Danish side Midtjylland in their opening pre-season fixture.
Notable Absentees
Four players are missing from the travelling party. Roko Simic, Jesper Daland and Kion Etete have been training with the under-21s and will remain at home. Dakarai Mafico, who played in the friendly against Midtjylland, has also been omitted for reasons not yet disclosed.
Returning and Emerging Players
Eli King returns after missing nearly all of last season with a cruciate ligament tear. Seventeen-year-old Jack Sykes, who made one first-team appearance last season (an 11-minute cameo in the EFL Trophy), is included and is highly rated by Cardiff insiders.
