Wrexham have reportedly emerged as the new favourites to land Leicester City star Harry Souttar.
According to Sky Sports, the Welsh side have opened talks for the Australian international, and a move to the Racecourse appears to be gathering some pace. However, the same report has stressed that a deal isn't yet done, and it remains to be seen whether Wrexham will meet Leicester's alleged £10m valuation for the defender.
Souttar's situation at Leicester
Souttar has been heavily tipped to leave the King Power this summer, having returned to full fitness at the back end of last season. He was a part of Australia's recent World Cup campaign, and is seemingly a big part of boss Russell Martin's plans for the campaign, having been named as captain.
Sheffield United have also been interested in the 27-year-old, with Chris Wilder confirming they had submitted bids. However, they now look to have turned their attention to other targets, and Wrexham are now looking to steal a march as Phil Parkinson looks to further strengthen his squad for the new season.
Ekomié deal close
The club are also on the brink of bringing fellow defender Jacques Ekomié on board from French side SCO Angers, with owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney believed to have blown rival clubs out of the water with a significant bid.
West Ham were also reported to be in the race to secure the 23-year-old's signature, along with Bundesliga side Hamburg. But it's claimed Wrexham have gazumped their rivals with an £8m offer.
Kabore returns and more targets
A deal for Manchester City's Issa Kabore has already got over the line. The Burkina Faso international returning to the club where he featured 32 times across all competitions during a loan spell in 2025-26.
"I'm very happy to be back. It feels good to be here again," said Kabore, who signed a three-year deal with the club. "Everybody knows our ambition is to get to the Premier League, and I'm here to fight for that promotion. I'm here to fight for this club, for our fans, and to give back the love everyone gave me last season."
There could well be more to come, with Wrexham still reportedly keen on Viking FK centre-back Henrik Falchener, although they could yet face competition for his signature.
According to TV2 in Norway, Championship rivals Southampton have joined the race for the 23-year-old, and it's claimed the duo will now do battle for the defender. Falchener was left out of Viking FK's 3-1 win over Dinamo Zagreb yesterday, a result that means the Norwegian club have secured a place in the group stages of the Champions League. That, it's claimed, has made the landscape a little more complicated for both clubs to get a deal done.
