Woltemade faces uncertain Juventus future after Germany miss

Newcastle United striker Nick Woltemade faces an uncertain future at Juventus following his loan move to Italy. The Magpies sanctioned Woltemade's exit before the summer transfer window closed, with the Germany international completing a season-long loan to the Serie A giants.

Woltemade will spend the rest of the season on loan in Turin, with the deal not thought to include an option for Juventus to make the move permanent at the end of the campaign. United signed Woltemade in the summer of 2025 in a deal worth £69million, with the 24-year-old and Yoane Wissa brought to the club to replace Alexander Isak, who moved to Liverpool.

Fresh update on Woltemade's future

Woltemade has featured four times for Juventus since joining the Italian club on loan, scoring one goal, and there has now been a fresh update on his future. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus are targeting further striker reinforcements, despite only bringing in Woltemade a few weeks ago.

The report claims that Woltemade's recent performance for Germany during the international break added further concerns within Juve. Woltemade missed an open goal within the six-yard box during a Nations League clash against Serbia, and that performance has reportedly led to questions being asked within Juventus about the long-term striker position.

Three strikers being considered

As a result, Juventus are reported to have identified three strikers who they could look to sign if the loan of Woltemade does not work out. Mateo Retegui (Al-Qadsiah), Folarin Balogun (Monaco) and Antonio Raimondo (Bologna) are all reportedly players being considered by Juventus ahead of the January transfer window.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Woltemade and if he can turn his form around in Turin before the New Year arrives. Given that Juventus do not have the obligation to sign the Germany international at the end of the season, it's likely that Newcastle would have a decision to make regarding his future when the summer arrives.

Following Woltemade's departure, Newcastle brought in eight new signings, including Matias Fernandez-Pardo and Bazoumana Toure, to strengthen their forward options.
