The summer transfer window is reaching a busy conclusion as Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham push for late deals. Arsenal are set to follow the arrival of Ezri Konsa with a triple transfer, while Carlos Baleba is poised for a Manchester United medical and Liverpool have made a shock approach to Real Madrid for Endrick.
Arsenal triple deal close after Konsa signing
Arsenal announced the £55m arrival of England defender Ezri Konsa from Aston Villa ahead of their Premier League opener against Coventry, which they won 3-0. The Gunners are not stopping there, with a total package worth £3m agreed with Blackburn for young striker Igor Tyjon, who will undergo a medical this weekend. Manchester United right-back Habeeb Ogunneye is also moving to the Emirates on a free transfer that includes a 40 per cent sell-on clause, and a deal for Ogunneye’s United team-mate James Scanlon should follow soon.
Arsenal remain in the race for Julian Alvarez and Victor Osimhen, and have tabled a contract offer to Andria Bartishvili, a player dubbed as the next Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
Baleba set for Man Utd medical
Manchester United are closing in on Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba. A verbal agreement is in place for a deal worth £65million, including a further £5m in add-ons. The Cameroon international has been granted permission by Brighton to undergo a medical this weekend, though an ankle injury will delay his debut by a few weeks. Barcelona’s Alejandro Balde is now a key left-back target along with Lewis Hall and Jorge Salinas.
Gary Neville has predicted Arsenal can win the Champions League if they sign Julian Alvarez. Atletico Madrid have reportedly softened their stance on selling the Argentina international, accepting it is best that the 26-year-old leaves this summer.
Liverpool approach Real Madrid for Endrick
Liverpool have made a shock approach to Real Madrid for Endrick as they still chase moves for Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye. An improved bid for Yankuba Minteh has been rejected. Curtis Jones has spoken for the first time as an Inter Milan player, saying: "I'm a Liverpool lad, a Scouser, and I've spent my whole life there. But at this stage of my career, I wanted to take the next step, and I think this is the perfect club for me to do that."
Omar Marmoush should soon follow Savinho from Manchester City to Tottenham, who remain in pursuit of Cody Gakpo. Roberto De Zerbi has provided an update on the futures of Pape Matar Sarr, Lucas Bergvall and Mikey Moore. Sarr has suffered a hamstring injury in Spurs training that is understood not to be serious but will keep him out of Tottenham’s Premier League opener away to Brentford on Saturday evening.
Chelsea braced for Jackson bid
Chelsea are expecting Aston Villa to submit an offer for Nicolas Jackson. According to the Telegraph, the Senegal international is valued at £65million by the Blues. Chelsea are looking to offload several strikers this summer, with Jackson, Liam Delap and Marc Guiu subject of both loan and permanent interest. Atletico Madrid are reportedly ready to join the race for Jackson. Chelsea are battling to keep Enzo Fernandez but offload the likes of Jackson and Axel Disasi.
Ian Wright believes Arsenal should show more respect towards Gabriel Martinelli, stating the situation has left him feeling “uncomfortable”. Martinelli was left out of the matchday squad for Arsenal’s Premier League opener against Coventry, as he also was for the Community Shield last weekend. While the 25-year-old is not believed to be pushing to leave, the club are open to selling him. Galatasaray were said to be interested, though Martinelli informed Arsenal he had no desire to move to Turkey. It remains to be seen whether there is a resolution before the transfer window shuts on September 1.
