The victim was attacked at around 7.45pm on Wednesday at a community centre in James Close, Plaistow, Newham. Detectives said between eight and 10 masked men entered the party before the teenager was stabbed multiple times in the torso and arms.

Victim's condition

The victim was taken to hospital by ambulance with life-threatening injuries. While his condition has since stabilised, police said his injuries could prove life-changing.

No arrests have been made.

Appeal for witnesses

Officers are appealing for witnesses, particularly the large number of young people who were attending the Halloween event when the violence broke out.

Detective Inspector Sam Lockstone, who is leading the investigation, said: “We are grateful to those who have come forward so far.

“However, there were a lot of young people at the party who fled when the stabbing happened, and it is really important that they contact police and offer any information they can to help with our enquiries.

“The victim was subject to a violent attack, and we want to know if you have any video footage taken during or after the party or witnessed anything that could help with our investigation.

“If you don’t want to contact police directly, you can pass information anonymously onto Crimestoppers.”
