Transfer news LIVE: Arsenal in Alvarez bid; Liverpool book Barcola medical

The summer transfer window is entering its final days as Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham work to complete deals before Tuesday's deadline. Arsenal have submitted an offer for Julian Alvarez, Liverpool have booked a medical for Bradley Barcola, and Chelsea have agreed a £40m deal for Honest Ahanor.

Arsenal submit Julian Alvarez offer

Arsenal have submitted an offer for Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez, who has been absent from training as the Gunners push to sign the Argentine. Gabriel Martinelli is set to join Al Hilal, while James Scanlon, Habeeb Ogunneye and Igor Tyjon are joining the club.

Atletico Madrid CEO Gil Marin said: "Julián is going through a very difficult situation on both a professional and personal level. He's really bad off because there have been people who deceived and confused him. If he wants to leave, a solution will be found, but it will never be to Barcelona. The lies, the lack of transparency, and the lack of professionalism from Barça disgust us."

Liverpool book Barcola medical

Liverpool have agreed a fee with Paris Saint-Germain for Bradley Barcola and have booked a medical for the winger. They also want Ismaila Sarr, which could see Cody Gakpo join Tottenham.

Manchester United still want to sign a left-back, with Lewis Hall their number one target, while Joshua Zirkzee could leave. Chelsea have agreed a fee for Emi Martinez and a £40m deal for Honest Ahanor.

Chelsea demand huge fee for Fernandez

Chelsea will demand more than £120m from Manchester City for Enzo Fernandez, according to reports. City are expected to table a formal offer soon for the Argentine midfielder, who was omitted from the squad for Thursday's Carabao Cup win over Luton. Chelsea previously set a 5pm BST deadline of Friday, August 13 for bids worth £120m, which City did not meet. The Blues would want a higher price if they were to sanction the sale so late in the window, and would also want a replacement, with another approach for Bournemouth's Alex Scott prepared.

Honest Ahanor is set to undergo a medical at Chelsea after a deal was agreed for the Atalanta defender. He has been given permission to travel to west London to sign a long-term contract, and is expected to be loaned out for the season to gain experience.

Other deals and updates

Nottingham Forest have submitted a £22m bid for Crystal Palace right-back Daniel Munoz. Joel Ordonez has been granted permission by Club Brugge to have a medical with Palace, with a loan and conditional obligation to buy for £24m plus add-ons in place. Bournemouth boss said of Alex Scott: "I'm not just confident, I'm sure (Scott will stay). Not just quite sure, I am sure." Napoli are interested in Newcastle's Nick Woltemade and Chelsea's Marc Guiu. Spurs have unveiled Omar Marmoush and could move for Neco Williams.
