Sergio Ramos has parted ways with Mexican side Monterrey, sparking rumours of a potential move to Manchester United. However, the 39-year-old Spain legend is not on the Red Devils' radar, despite previous links over the past decade.
According to reports, United remain committed to signing younger players and have not held any discussions regarding the veteran defender. The club's stance has not shifted, making a deal for Ramos highly unlikely at this stage.
Ramos himself acknowledged his near-move to Old Trafford in 2015. Speaking in 2023, he revealed: 'I stayed where I should have stayed, Real Madrid, but I was indeed close to playing for United.' He added that while he admired the Premier League, it was 'not meant to be.'
The former Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain star left Monterrey after just a few months, posting an emotional farewell on Instagram. 'Saying goodbye is never easy,' he wrote, thanking the club and fans for their support during his 34-game stint, which included eight goals.
Ramos has yet to confirm his next destination, but with United out of the picture, his future remains uncertain as he approaches his 40th birthday.
