Rangers have agreed a £9.5million deal to sign striker Kevin Kelsy from Portland Timbers, according to reports. The Venezuelan forward is set to become the club's second most expensive signing in history, behind Tore-Andre Flo's £12million capture 26 years ago.
Derek McInnes has been hunting for a replacement for Youssef Chermiti after the Portuguese suffered a horror ACL knee injury against Hibs and will be ruled out for some time. Now, after Record Sport first revealed the Venezuelan was on the Ibrox club's radar, the Athletic claims that the Light Blues have reached an agreement with Portland Timbers.
Deal structure and add-ons
As well as a bumper up front fee, Gers will pay add-ons if certain criteria are met and the MLS side will receive a percentage of Kelsy's next transfer fee. The Oregon-based franchise only signed Kelsy in January 2025 for $6million from Shakhtar Donetsk on a four-year deal.
But now they are set to more than double their money on the 6'4" frontman's move to Glasgow. Kelsy will jump Chermiti in the big money queue, who was signed for £8million from Everton last year.
Visa wait and medical
The 22-year-old will only travel to Glasgow to discuss terms and undergo his medical when his visa is granted, however. Kelsy scored 19 times and laid on five assists in 63 Portland Timbers appearances.
