Rangers have had a £7.5m bid rejected by Brighton & Hove Albion for winger Amario Cozier-Duberry. The former Arsenal star is on a list of top Gers targets as Derek McInnes looks to further strengthen his wide options.
Cozier-Duberry enjoyed a successful season on loan at Bolton Wanderers last season as they won the League One play-offs. The 21-year-old scored eight goals and provided 12 assists in 34 appearances, earning him a place in the League One team of the season.
Negotiations to continue
Since Rangers’ second offer was rejected, and even though negotiations are set to continue, the Scottish giants face the prospect of other interested clubs pushing the asking price up even further, reports the BBC. Brighton have already knocked back a £5million offer from Belgian giants Anderlecht.
Driouech deal collapses
News of the rejected offer comes just days after Rangers pulled the plug on their move for Couhaib Driouech after the PSV star failed his medical. The winger was pictured at Ibrox sitting in the stands for the clash with Jagiellonia Bialystok.
Everything looked agreed for Driouech to become the club’s 10th signing of the summer after a £7million deal was agreed. But in an incredible turn of events, the Gers pulled the plug on the deal after a small thigh muscle tear was uncovered by a scan.
McInnes on transfer efforts
Speaking after his side’s 5-1 Premier Sports Cup win over St Mirren at the weekend, McInnes was asked about transfers and revealed: "We're still working really hard to do that.
"They [attackers] are normally the hardest ones to get, because they normally come with a premium and they normally come because they're good players and we're not the only show in town.
"You've got to work really hard to get these players in. If we can be rewarded for our efforts, then we'll hopefully get a couple of good players in the building."
