Panathinaikos have targeted Celtic midfielder Reo Hatate. Record Sport understands the Greek giants want the Japanese international, and the 28-year-old is among their top summer targets.

They are aware that Hatate is also keen to leave Celtic for a fresh overseas challenge. Hatate also has interest from the Middle East and other European leagues.

Contract and fee

The Celtic player still has two years left on his contract, and it would take a significant seven-figure bid to land him.

Panathinaikos boss Jacob Neestrup is looking to rebuild his side after a disappointing campaign last season. They would have the funds to give Hatate a significant wage increase.

Celtic squad changes

Hatate will remain part of Martin O’Neill’s squad until their valuation is met. He hasn’t been as influential under the current manager as he did under his predecessors.

Arne Engels is set to leave Celtic for West Ham United in a £22 million deal. The Belgian international is set to triple his wages with the Hammers.

It leaves Celtic in the market for another midfielder, despite the signing of Mika Baur from Paderborn. Hajduk Split’s Niko Sigur is one of their top targets.

Further targets

Celtic are set to open talks with the Croatians to see if a deal can be struck. The Hoops also have Torino’s Gvidas Gineitis on their list, but Sigur is the main man.

Celtic are also looking to bring in a new keeper, with Blackburn's Balasz Toth among their top targets. Rovers want around £4 million, but a deal closer to £2 million is likely to get the deal done.
