Newcastle United are reportedly looking to revisit their interest in VfB Stuttgart forward Bilal El Khannouss, according to French media outlet Foot Mercato.
Galatasaray made a reported £18.7m bid for the former Leicester City man, but that bid was rejected by the Bundesliga side. It is claimed Stuttgart are holding out for a bid in the region of £30m, with El Khannouss open to a return to the Premier League.
Cheaper alternative to Fernandez-Pardo
Newcastle have been linked with a move for Belgian international Matias Fernandez-Pardo, and the Daily Mail claims the Magpies have not given up on a move for the £60m-rated winger. The latter report claims Fernandez-Pardo is viewed as the versatile forward that Matthias Jaissle wants to add to his squad this summer.
While some reports claim Newcastle would walk away from the deal, with Ross Wilson not wanting to sanction any deals that may cause FFP problems down the line, the Mail claims a deal is not dead. Arsenal and Liverpool have also been credited with an interest in the Lille star, who has scored 12 goals in 71 appearances for the Ligue 1 side since joining from Gent in 2024.
Interestingly, El Khannouss would be a cheaper alternative should they miss out on a move for the Belgian. Newcastle were heavily linked with the Moroccan international before he left Leicester City following their relegation from the Championship.
Player open to Premier League return
The 22-year-old spent last season on loan with Stuttgart before the deal was made permanent in May, but he could still leave the German club. His reported stance, claiming to be open about a return to the Premier League, would be a major boost for Newcastle should they move to sign the versatile forward.
Speaking about further additions after the win over West Brom in the Carabao Cup, Jaissle said: "Yes (I want more signings). Where? This is something I will not tell you. But yes, I will push every day (for new signings). We want to continue our brave way, not bringing in guys who are close to retirement."
