Celtic target Mika Baur is reportedly a step closer to a move to Parkhead - after the midfielder missed training with his club Paderborn to hold talks with the Hoops.
Transfer fee sticking point
The Scottish Premiership champions have been determined to land the Germany Under-21 cap but negotiations hit an impasse. The transfer fee - said to be around £7million - was the major sticking point as personal terms between Celtic and the player, who has one year left on his contract, appeared to be straightforward.
Talks reach conclusion
Now, though, German outlet NW Sport, say Celtic are likely to land their man - just 24 hours ahead of the deadline to name their squad for the huge Champions League play-off showdown with Austrian side LASK. Baur could yet be on that list as weeks of talks appear to be reaching a conclusion while they continue to pursue fellow midfielder Gvidas Gineitis from Torino.
The report states the 22-year-old German has been granted time off by his club to hold talks with Celtic and could even hold a medical today.
