Manchester City boss Enzo Maresca has appeared to rule out a move to sign Enzo Fernandez from Chelsea today. The Argentina international has been considering a move away from Stamford Bridge with doubts over his long-term future first emerging back in March.
Maresca's comments
Former Chelsea boss Maresca, who replaced Pep Guardiola in the City hotseat this summer, is thought to be keen on a reunion with his former midfielder. Speaking ahead of City’s Community Shield showdown with Arsenal on Sunday, Maresca said he was not expecting anything to materialise before that deadline.
‘Not today to be honest,’ Maresca told a press conference. ‘I don’t think we are going to do something today.’
Chelsea's valuation
Chelsea have set a deadline of 5pm (BST) this evening for offers to be tabled, standing firm on their £120million valuation. The club's stance suggests they are not willing to negotiate on the price for the midfielder.
